| 6-10 Andris Biedrins made a big splash at the 2003 adidas Big Time Tournament playing for the D.C. Assualt AAU team. The Latvian native is a skilled player who shoots with range and has a good inside game as well. He is a good ballhandler and passer for his size. He is a very skilled big man with a good inside-outside game. NBA scouts were enamored with his all-around skills. He needs to make major strides from the free throw line. Biedrins played on the same Latvian team, Skonto Riga, as Kristaps Valters, who was eligible for the 2003 NBA Draft and played for the Cleveland Cavaliers summer league team. He averaged 3.3 points and 4.8 rebounds per game this past season. Biedrins was a member of the Latvian National Team at the 2002 European Championship for Young Men. He was named "Newcomer of the Year 03" in Latvias LBL. There are some questions whether he is a recruitable player, due to playing in a professional European league. |
