6-5 Lance Harris of Columbia (MO) Hickman missed his first three shots of the fourth quarter and had two turnovers in the period, but he hit the big shots when needed as he sank a three-pointer with 11.5 seconds left to go as the Kewpies defeated Litchfield (MN) High 47-46. Hickman trailed 42-37 as the Dragons scored the first seven points of the final stanza. Kurt Vaughan hit a three-pointer from the left corner to cut the lead to 42-40.

Notre Dame football recruit John Carlson scored an inside bucket to make the score 44-40. Mikel Fields cut the lead to two, but Carlson made one of two free throws to make it 45-42. Lance Harris missed a three-pointer, but Litchfield could not take advantage as Carlson missed the front end of a one-and-one. Vaughan countered with a basket to cut the lead to one. Carlson made one of two attempts from the charity stripe to make the score 46-44 and set up Harris' heroics.

Litchfield had a chance at a game-winning shot, but Hans Hoeg's shot from the left-hand corner was partially blocked by 6-9 Southern Illinois recruit Jamaal Foster.

Harris led all scorers with 23 points, including three three-pointers. Vaughan had two three-pointers in a ten-point effort.

Carlson led the Dragons with 16 points and Hoeg had 15. Litchfield fell to 14-2 with the loss, while Hickman improved to 13-4, winning their seventh straight.
