Gary Forbes, who started his college career at nearby Virginia, added seven rebounds and six assists. Deron Washington from Virginia Tech had 22 points and nine caroms in the win. Late addition Frank Elegar from Drexel had twelve points and nine rebounds. Anthony Morrow of Georgia Tech had eleven points and Bryant Dunston from Fordham chipped in with ten. Last minute replacement Jiri Hubalek of Iowa State made ten of 19 shots as he finished with a game-high 27 points for Sales Systems. He added ten rebounds. Othello Hunter from Ohio State made eight of ten shots as he finished with 17 points and 13 caroms. Marcus Hall of Colorado had 14 points and Ramel Bradley from Kentucky added twelve.
