Team Five used their strong outside shooting and teamwork to break a 40-40 tie to pull away in the second half for a 97-81 win over Team Two at the Chicago pre-draft camp Thursday evening at the Moody Bible Institute. Team Five improved to 1-1, while Team Two fell to 0-2.
Luther Head of Illinois made eight of eleven shots from the field, including four of five from three-point range as he lead all scorers with 21 points. Mike Bell of Florida Atlantic bounced back from a poor shooting first game to make seven of eleven shots as he added 17 points. Robert Whaley of Walsh and Jawad Williams each scored twelve in the win. Travis Deiner continued his strong floor game with five assists.
Larry O’Bannon of Louisville was just three of eleven from the field, but he made all ten free throws to pace Team Two with 16 points. Juan Mendez of Niagara scored 15 and Drago Pasalic from Croatia had the first double-double of the camp as he finished with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Sean Banks of Memphis added ten points, although he was just two of nine from the field.
