Kris Humphries gets release from letter of intent

6-9 Kris Humphries of Minnetonka (MN) Hopkins has been released from a letter of intent with Duke. Humphries is College Basketball News' choice for state Player of the Year and was named the Metro Player of the Year by the Minneapolis Star Tribune for the second straight year. He also was one of the Naismith’s final ten high school players and a Parade McDonald’s All-American. Humphries was a first team Student Sports All-American and second team All-USA Today choice.
Kris Humphries played in the McDonald’s All-American Game and Jordan Brand Capitol Classic. He led the Royals to the 2002 Class AAAA championship and they fell to eventual champion Minneapolis North in the Class AAAA semifinals 70-57 this year.
Humphries picked Duke over Kansas and Minnesota in the early signing period. He averaged 25.5 points per game. Humphries toyed with the idea of entering the NBA Draft, but decided that he would benefit from a year or two in college.
Humphries is considering Minnesota, Indiana and Iowa State among others. He has been working with former NBA players Chris Carr and Trent Tucker. Humphries has been practicing Pilates and yoga and is currently up to 240 pounds. He has bench pressed 315 pounds and can bench 265 pounds three times.
