Yakhouba Diawara is averaging 16.3 points (tops on the team) and 7.3 rebounds per game. He is shooting 53.6% from the field and 54.8% from the line. Diawara has made ten of 25 shots from three-point range. He is averaging 1.2 assists and 1.0 steals per contest.
College of Southern Idaho head coach Guy Beach told me that Diawara is looking at St. John’s, DePaul, Connecticut, Iowa State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Minnesota and Wisconsin. The Paris, France native averaged 8.3 points and 6.2 rebounds per game last season.
DePaul has been mentioned as the leader in his recruitment because he did make a visit there around Christmas. However, Beach said that since Diawara is not as familiar with the recruiting as the typical American that he is still learning about the process.
Diawara is an athletic player who is aggressive around the basket. He has improve his outside shot this season.
College of Southern Idaho freshman teammate Dante Sawyer is being recruited by many of the same teams and Beach said that he would not be surprised if the two ended up at the same school. The 6-5 Sawyer, who is from San Francisco, is averaging 15.8 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. He is leading the team in three-point percentage and is second in assists and three-pointers made.
