Notre Dame football recruit John Carlson scored an inside bucket to make the score 44-40. Mikel Fields cut the lead to two, but Carlson made one of two free throws to make it 45-42. Lance Harris missed a three-pointer, but Litchfield could not take advantage as Carlson missed the front end of a one-and-one. Vaughan countered with a basket to cut the lead to one. Carlson made one of two attempts from the charity stripe to make the score 46-44 and set up Harris' heroics.
Litchfield had a chance at a game-winning shot, but Hans Hoeg's shot from the left-hand corner was partially blocked by 6-9 Southern Illinois recruit Jamaal Foster.
Harris led all scorers with 23 points, including three three-pointers. Vaughan had two three-pointers in a ten-point effort.
Carlson led the Dragons with 16 points and Hoeg had 15. Litchfield fell to 14-2 with the loss, while Hickman improved to 13-4, winning their seventh straight.
