Brian Cook made six of 13 shots as he had a game-high 25 points leading the Illini to a 76-70 road win in their Big Ten Conference opener at Minnesota Tuesday. He was 13 of 17 from the free throw line and added eleven rebounds.
Cook scored a career-high 31 points as Illinois improved to 2-0 in Big Ten play by defeating Wisconsin 69-63 Saturday. He made 12 of 19 shots from the field. Cook was two of three from three-point range and converted five of six from the charity stripe. He also had nine rebounds.
Cook is averaging 20.8 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game for the season. He is shooting 54.3% from the field, 83.8% from the line and 33.3% from three-point range. His strong play has elevated his status for the June NBA Draft.
Cook edged Derrick Tarver of Akron, Hollis Price from Oklahoma and Georgetown’s Michael Sweetney for Player of the Week honors.
