Norfolk Naval Shipyard advanced to the Portsmouth Invitational title game with an 89-73 win over Cherry, Bekaert & Holland.

Norfolk Naval Shipyard had six players reach double figures, led by B. J. Raymond of Xavier with 16 points. David Holston of Chicago State, Alade Aminu from Georgia Tech and Kahiem Seawright of Rhode Island scored 13 points each. Al Fisher of Kent State added eleven and Lawrence Kinnard of UAB had ten.

Wes Matthews of Marquette paced Cherry, Bekaert & Holland with 17 points. Kenny Hasbrouck of Siena had 14 points and Jon Brockman from Washington and North Dakota State's Ben Woodside scored eleven points each.
