Michael Beasley Wins Battle of Top Picks

The Miami Heat defeated Chicago 94-70 in their Orlando Summer League opener. The Heat were led by second overall pick Michael Beasley, who finished with 28 points and nine rebounds as they never trailed in the game. Top pick Derrick Rose had ten points and four assists, but had five turnovers.

Michael Beasley made nine of 21 shots from the field and was nine of twelve from the line. Kasib Powell had 15 points and second rounder Mario Chalmers had eleven points, six assists and four steals. Stephane Lasame, a 2007 second round pick, added ten points.

2007 second round pick Demetris Nichols and Keith Langford scored 13 points each for the Bulls. Tyrus Thomas had twelve points and tne rebounds. Derrick Rose was three of eight from the field and four of eight from the line.
