Chris Alexander helped lead Indian Hills (IA) CC to a Region 11 title and a fourth-place national tournament finish as a freshman. He averaged 11.9 points and 8.1 rebounds while shooting 73.6 percent from the floor.
Alexander is the second former Indian Hills player to run into legal problems once joining Iowa State.
6-5 shooting guard Jerome Harper of Iowa State will miss the first semester and will likely be unavailable for the Cyclones this season. Harper must pass one more test before he can received his GED. He has already received his AA degree from Indian Hills (IA) CC. Harper was also in the news recently in Ottumwa, where he was arrested twice this summer.
The Cyclones will also be without point guard Ricky Morgan, who left the team to concentrate on academics
Morgan played in 29 games, starting 11 of them, and led Iowa State with 91 assists, while averaging 2.6 points a game. He averaged 5.1 points and 5.3 assists as a starter in the Cyclones' final eight games.
The pair's absence leaves ISU with eight scholarship players, including three who have yet to play at the Division I level.
Iowa State has received four commitments, including three verbals from point guards Curtis Stinson of Winchendon (MA) Prep, Will Blalock from Fitchburg (MA) Notre Dame Prep and Imari Sawyer of Des Moines Area (IA) CC.
