Troy Aaron commits to Tulane

Posted Oct 16, 2002

6-1 point guard Troy Aaron of Lake Charles (LA) St. Louis Catholic has become the fourth player to commit to Tulane. Aaron, who played at the Nike All-American Camp in July, was the MVP in Class AAA last season. He averaged 24 points per game and St. Louis finished 25-6 last season, losing in the state regionals.

Troy Aaron is the fourth player to commit to the Green Wave. 6-5 shooting guard Chris Moore of Pittsfield (ME) Maine Central Institute, 6-2 guard Vincent Camper from Oxford (MS) High and 6-7 small forward Dan Fitzgerald of Mendota Heights (MN) St. Thomas Academy. The Green Wave have one more scholarship to offer and could have another one if the NCAA allows teams to gain an additional scholarship if they have all their player graduate. Brandon Brown, Brandon Spann, Waitari Marsh, Nick Sinville and Byron Parker are all expected to graduate this year.

Tulane is looking for a big man and feels that they have a solid chance of landing 6-8 Jarvelle Scott of Mouth of Wilson (VA) Oak Hill Academy and/or 6-10 center Kory Castine of Marrero (LA) Archbishop Shaw. Scott visited Tulane October 4th and Mississippi on the 11th. He has a visit planned for Houston this weekend.

Castine averaged 12 points, eight rebounds, four assists and two blocks per contest as a junior. He previously visited UAB.

Tulane finished 14-15 overall and was 5-11 in Conference play last season.
