Stephen Verwers Commits to Colorado State

Posted Oct 14, 2002

Stephen Verwers visited Colorado State this past weekend and his visit to Fort Collins must have been a good one as the 6-10 forward from Weatherford, Texas committed to the Mountain West school. Verwers saw his stock rise with a strong showing at the Nike Peach Jam. Verwers had credited the Colorado State Elite Camp for teaching him some new post low moves that made him look good in Augusta.

Stephen Verwers has been home schooled home schooled since an early age and he averaged nearly 27 points per game last year.

Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Arkansas, TCU, Kansas and SMU had expressed interest in Verwers. He lives just five miles away from Fort Worth, which the Horned Frogs' hoped would sway him to stay close to home. Verwers had a visit with Texas A&M set for October 26th.

Verwers is the third Texan to commit to the Rams. He will join 6-7 forward Phillip Thomasson of Burleson (TX) High and 7-0 center Stuart Creason from Coppell (TX) High.
