Tyler Koenig commits to Wisconsin Green Bay

6-8 power forward Tyler Koenig of Fargo (ND) North has committed to Wisconsin Green Bay. Koenig made news this summer when he sued the NCAA over a rule that allowed him to play on a team only within 100 miles of his home. He played for the Dakota Schoolers in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, about 240 miles from his home. Koenig was given a waiver to play for the team and was able to participate in the adidas Big Time Tournament in Las Vegas.

Koenig averaged 16 points and 11 rebounds for undefeated state champion Fargo North this past season and he is also an All-State wide receiver.

Koenig is the third player to commit to Wisconsin Green Bay under first year head coach Tod Kowalczyk. The Phoenix previously got commitments from 6-4 shooting guard Adrian Schaffer from Rochester (MI) Adams and 6-7 small forward Josh Lawrence of Ashton (IL) High.

Wisconsin Green Bay finished 9-21 last season, their third straight losing season. However, hopes are high this season as they move into the new 10,000 seat Resch Center.
