Norfolk Naval Shipyard Wins 7th Place Game

Norfolk Naval Shipyard defeats Tidewater Sealants 113-94 to win seventh place game at Portsmouth Invitational Tournament. Norfolk Naval Shipyard made 28 of 46 shots (60.9%) in the second half to outscore their opponents 65-53 in the second half.

Norfolk Naval Shipyard had six players reach double figures, led by Carl Landry of Purdue with 25 points. He made nine of 13 from the field and seven of eight from the line. Landry also grabbed eleven boards. Last minute addition Aaron Nixon from Long Beach State made eight of twelve shots as he scored 18 points. Rashaun Freeman from Massachusetts made eight of twelve for 17 points and grabbed eleven boards.

Derek Raivio of Gonzaga broke a two for 14 shooting slump to score 14 points. Lester Abram of Michigan had 13 and Ian Vouyoukas from St. Louis chipped in with eleven points.

Tidewater Sealants was led by Loyola's Blake Schlib with 25 points. He made nine of 14 from the field, including three three-pointers. Mohammed Abukar of San Diego State scored 21 points on nine of 17 shooting. Alan Wiggins of San Francisco scored 15 and Ibrahim Jaaber of Penn and Martin Samarco from Bowling Green scored ten each in the loss.
