Holiday Inn Portsmouth wins PIT Title

The Holiday Inn Portsmouth jumped out to a 78-56 lead, but had to hold off a valiant comeback by Cherry, Bekeart & Holland for a 113-103 win in the Portsmouth Invitational title game. Holiday Inn Portsmouth had seven of their eight players reach double figures and shot an impressive 61.4% from the field

Holiday Inn Portsmouth made 43 of 70 shots from the field and had 31 assists to just 12 turnovers.

They were paced by Russell Carter from Notre Dame with 28 points. He made twelve of 17 from the field. Dion Harris of Michigan had 15 points and eight assists as he sank three three-pointers. Last minute addition Dashaun Wood from Wright State had 14 points and nine assists. De’Angelo Alexander from Charlotte and Anthony Tolliver of Creighton had 13 points each. Valadas Vasylius from Old Dominion scored twelve and James Hughes from Northern Illinois added ten.

Dustin Salisbery of Temple paced Cherry, Bekeart & Holland with 22 points on eight of twelve shooting. Ivan Harris of Ohio State and Jamaal Tatum of Southern Illinois had 17 points each. Mike Jones from Maryland scored 16 and Jamaal Tatum of Southern Illinois had twelve. Ryvon Covile from Detroit finished with nine points and eleven rebounds.
