Elias Ayuso scores 37 points in Puerto Rico win

Elias Ayuso, who sealed Puerto Rico's 78-75 opening game win with two free throws with 12 seconds left to defeat Turkey, was the hero again as he scored a World Championship-high 37 points as Puerto Rico defeated Lebanon 97-77. The 6-2 guard was ten of 14 from the field, seven of ten from three-point range and ten of eleven from the line. He also had five rebounds and five assists.

Puerto Rico opened a 31-11 lead and were never challenged. Christian Dalmau had 15 points and Daniel Santiago added 13 for the winners. Raymond Dalmau had twelve points and former NBA player Jose Ortiz, who is now 38 years old, had eleven points and five rebounds.

Former Seattle second round pick Joe Vogel led Lebanon for the second straight game with 19 points and twelve rebounds. Vogel, who played at Colorado State and was drafted by Seattle, is a naturalized citizen of Lebanon. He made eight of twenty shots from the field and also blocked three shots. Charles Bardawil also had 19 points and Fady El Khatib had 13 points e for Lebanon.
