Portsmouth Sports Club Wins P.I.T. Title Game

Portsmouth Sports Club defeated Holiday Inn 101-91 in the Portsmouth Invitational championship game.

Portsmouth Sports Club was led by Quemont Greer of DePaul, who scored 18 points on eight of twelved shooting. Greer lead the team in scoring in all three games. Chuck Hayes of Kentucky, who was named the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament MVP, added 16 points, seven caroms and five assists. Houston guard Andre Owens, a late replacement, also had 16 points. David Simon of IPFW chipped in with 13 points, twelve rebounds and two blocked shots. Two other late additions Doron Perkins of Santa Clara and West Virgina's Tyrone Salley finished with eleven points each.

Holiday Inn was paced by David Lucas of Oregon State with 18 points. He made eight of twelve from the field. Darren Brooks from Southern Illinois scored 16 points. David Logan of University of Indianapolis, the Division II Player of the Year, had 13 points and six rebounds as he made three three-pointers. Jared Homan of Iowa State continued his strong play with eleven points and nine rebounds.
