DeMatha Catholic bests Westbury Christian 77-59

Hyattsville (MD) DeMatha Catholic bounced back from an early 11-2 deficit as they rolled to a 77-59 win over Westbury Christian in the third place game of the Texas division of the 2004 Academy National Invitational. The Stags trailed 19-15 after the first period, but outscored the Wildcats 44-25 in the second and third periods.

Virginia signee Mamadi Diane led all scorers with 17 points as he made seven of eleven shots from the field, including three of four from beyond the arc. He scored 17 in the first half. Austin Freeman had twelve points and Nigel Munson added eleven. Jeff Allen and Jason Green scored eight points each.

Westbury Christian was paced by 6-foot-9 senior Jeremy Barr and Wendell Preadom who scored 15 points each.

DeMatha Catholic improved to 8-1 with the win, while Westbury Christian fell to 17-5.

Obi Ikeakor, a 6-foot-8 senior from Westbury Christian, is sidelined with a torn left ACL. He is expected to attend prep school next year.
