Kendrick Johnson led Morton to the Class A Division I high school boys
basketball championship game where they lost to Normangee 53-51 in overtime.
Johnson scored 21 points in the loss as Morton finished 28-7. Johnson averaged
20.3 points and 14.8 rebounds per game last season. Calvin averaged 20.2 points
for the Indians.
Johnson will visit Minnesota September 17th. He admits that he
is not overly familiar with the Big Ten program.
“I don’t know much. That is why I’m going up there. I’ve talked to all
their coaches.”
Johnson committed to Texas Tech along with his brother last November.
However, they decided to re-open their recruitment.
“They had heard that we were looking at other school and they took it
wrong.”
Johnson said that he and Calvin would like to play together, but he is
open to play without him next season.
“I want to go to the same school, but I am willing to look at other
places.”
Johnson plans to visit Purdue November 1st and is also looking
at Stanford.
Johnson took the SAT once and is planning on taking it again. He hopes to
major in computer technology.
