Kevin Henderson switches California JCs

Kevin Henderson, a 6-foot-3 guard who played last year at Garden City (KS) CC, was expected to play at Compton (CA) CC this season. However, due to a recent coaching change, Henderson will play at San Bernadino (CA) CC. Henderson averaged 14.2 points and 5.1 rebounds per game as a freshman. However, Henderson was dismissed from the team after a run-in with Garden City coaches at the Juco Challenge in Indianapolis. Henderson did not play in the final two games at the Challenge.

Former high school and JC teammate James Davis also decided to transfer to a California JC. Kevin Henderson and Davis helped lead Minneapolis (MN) North to the Minnesota Class AAAA title. Henderson was expected to land at Wisconsin Green Bay, but failed to qualify, forcing him to go the JC route.

Henderson was a 2003 Minnesota Mr. Basketball Award Finalist and was named to the College Basketball News' Minnesota All-State Team as a senior.

Henderson has some work to do in the class room and might have to spend an additional year in junior college before moving to a Division I situation.
