Jesse Jones returns to Texas division finals

Houston (TX) Jesse Jones outscored Houston (TX) Aldine 25-13 in the final period to pull away with a 71-53 win in the final Texas division game of day two at the Academy National Invitational. The game was tied at 9-9 after one quarter and at 26 each at halftime before the Falcons gained control in the second half.

McDonald's All-American candidate Daniel Gibson bounced back from a subpar first game to finish with a game-high 26 points, scoring 13 in each half. He made ten of 14 from the field. 6-4 senior Jay Jenkins added 18 for the Falcons. 6-6 widebody Doug Smith grabbed twelve rebounds in the winning effort.

Aldine was led by 6-2 senior guard Lamario Kersee scored 19 of his 26 points in the second half. He made eleven of twelve from the line. 6-6 freshman Gary Johnson, considered by some to the top freshman in the state, had eleven points and six rebounds.
