Dane Watts commits to Creighton

6-8 forward Dane Watts of Warrensburg (MO) High opened plenty of eyes with his strong play at the adidas Big time tournament for the KChoopscoop.com team. He averaged 24.4 points per game and had games of 34, 33 and 31 points in Vegas. Watts led his high school team to a 23-5 mark and back to back District 13 Championships. He lead his team to the Class 4 sectional, where they lost to Paseo 56-47, despite scoring 29 points. He made his college choice after making a campus visit last week.

Dane Watts has committed to Creighton. He is the second player to verbally commit to the Bluejays. 6-11 center Steve Smith of Sioux Falls (SD) Bishop O'Gorman committed to the Missouri Valley power last week. The Blauejays finished 29-5 last season.

Watts was offered scholarships by Central Missouri State, Southeast Missouri State, Southwest Missouri State, Illinois State, Creighton, Northern Iowa, Southern Illinois, Evansville, Indiana State, Loyola Marymount, California-Santa Barbara and Northwestern.

Fresno State, Nebraska, Bradley, Rice and Lehigh had also expressed interest in the talented forward.

Watts took unofficial visits to Northern Iowa, Southern Illinois and Indiana State before making his decision.
