Denver cruises to 96-70 win over New York

The Denver Nuggets rolled to a 96-70 win over the New York Knicks as eight players scored at least seven points. The Nuggets held the Knicks to just 36.8% shooting and forced 23 turnovers.

Denver was led by Carmelo Anthony, who finished with 20 points in just 23 minutes. He made six of ten from the field and eight of nine form the line. However, he suffered an ankle injury. Second year players Nene Hilario and Nikoloz Tskitishvili combined for 31 points and 15 rebounds. Hilario had 18 points, making seven of eleven from the field and six caroms. Tskitishvili had 13 points and eight rebounds. Chris Anderson had seven points and two blocked shots. Denver former second round picks Francisco Elson scored eight points. Former Minnesota Timberwolves second rounder Igor Rakocevic added seven points and six assists.

New York was led by their draft picks, Maciej Lampe and Michael Sweetney. Lampe, who fell into the second round, made seven of 13 shots as he finished with 17 points. Sweetney, the ninth overall pick, added 16 points and four rebounds. Matt Carroll, who went undrafted out of Notre Dame, added ten points. Second round pick Salvko Vranes had four points and two blocked shots in just eight minutes.
