Portsmouth Sports Club Beats Norfolk Sports

The Portsmouth Sports Club defeated the Norfolk Sports Club 88-76 in the opening game of the Portsmouth Invitational.

Tennessee Tech’s Kevin Murphy led all scorers with 27 points. He made eleven of 14 shots from the field. Local NCAA Tournament hero Kyle O’Quinn of nearby Norfolk State had a double-double with 18 points and twelve rebounds. He sank eight of 13 shots. Henry Sims from Georgetown added twelve points.

Norfolk Sports Club was led by New Mexico State’s Wendell McKines, who had a double-double with 16 points and ten caroms. Charlie Westbrook of South Dakota had 15 points. Agustus Gilchrist had a double-double with 12 points and 12 boards. Mitchell Watt from Buffalo added 11 points in the loss.
