Junior power forward Brian Johnson of Arlington (VA) Bishop O'Connell suffered a sprained Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL) in his left knee early in the first Trials session on Friday at the 2003 USA Basketball Men’s National Team Trials in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He is expected to be sidelined for three weeks. Despite the injury, he is a finalist for the USA junior squad that will compete July 10-20 at the 2003 FIBA Junior World Championship in Thessaloniki, Greece.

Brian Johnson led Bishop O'Connell to a 25-5 mark and they are expected to be ranked among the top five teams in the country next season as they return all five starters. Johnson is considering North Carolina, Duke, Maryland, Florida and Notre Dame.
